Chennai: Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram, the son of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, on Monday said he has tested positive for COVID-19.
"I have just tested positive for #Covid. My symptoms are mild and as per medical advice I am under home quarantine. I would urge all those who have recently been in contact with me to follow medical protocol," he said in a tweet.
The Congress leader represents Sivaganga Lok Sabha segment from Tamil Nadu.
The news comes after Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan blamed people’s 'complacency' for the sudden surge in the COVID 19 cases in the state and emphasised on the need to maintain physical distancing
Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa. who has been admitted to the hospital for observation, is doing well and is clinically stable,
There are 5,79,357 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country at present while the recoveries have increased to 11,86,203.
