New Delhi: With 48,648 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total COVID-19 caseload climbed to 80,88,851 on Friday, said the Union health ministry.
The COVID-19 toll in the country mounted to 1,21,090 with 563 new fatalities being registered in the past 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
A total of 73,73,375 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far pushing the national recovery rate to 91.15 percent while the case fatality rate stands at 1.50 percent.
The active coronavirus cases fell below 6,00,000 according to the health ministry.
There are 5,94,386 active cases of coronavirus in the country as on Friday which comprises 7.35 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August and 40 lakh on 5 September. It went past 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October and crossed 80 lakh on 29 October.
According to the ICMR, acumulative total of 10,77,28,088 samples have been tested up to 29 October. At least 11,64,648 samples were tested on Thursday alone.
